Find out what you need in your closet to make the right combinations and form amazing looks more easily

Dear ones, I have been doing some work in these last weeks in which a curious fact has been repeated: my clients, all beautiful, have wonderful pieces in the closet, with powerful prints, colors of the season, pieces with a good fit, of good quality. However, even so, they still feel that they have nothing to wear.

Did you also identify yourself?

So it is! The big problem in these wardrobes was the lack of supporting or connecting pieces, those basic pieces that make it possible to coordinate the other prints, with brightness, ties, details and everything else in a harmonious way and without making mistakes.

Few people have mastered the art of combining prints and strong colors with each other and few places that allow for the most extravagant looks that these coordinations often create. Therefore, it is essential for anyone to have these basic and neutral items, even wildcard pieces, in the closet to form the looks more easily, making the wardrobe work better.

I am from the group that thinks that there is not much of a recipe for all wardrobes, that each person has a different routine and style and also key pieces that work differently. However, there are the basics that cannot be missing in the majority closet, and these are the ones I list below:

Dress pants / black or dark tailoring

Dark pants are the wildcard for any woman who works (and I think also for those who don’t!). It looks good with basic T-shirt and all star, with a shirt and scarpin, with a silk blouse and boot, goes from job interview to party… in short, it fits from A to Z in life and allows almost any color, pattern or detail on the top and accessories. Is that good?

If you don’t like long pants, you can opt for a cigarillo that is super current and elegant too and if you are not a fan of black, lead gray or beige are also neutral colors that work with almost everything and make the paths of this piece- wildcard.

Black skirt on the knee

It can be pencil, tulip, in A, or the model that looks best for your silhouette. Tailoring, then, you can’t go wrong. The black skirt replaces the pants when you want to be more feminine, when the weather is warmer and in winter with pantyhose it works very well too, without losing seriousness and elegance.

They also combine from work shirts to blouses of fine fabrics such as crepe, silk or satin for a more formal dinner or party. To keep it elegant, choose knee length or, at most, 3 fingers above it.

Basic blouses in all colors

Do you know that time when you want to wear your shiny skirt, a studded vest, plaid pants, a summer dress on that coldest day and so on? Then! The basic blouse is perfect for these more complicated pieces to match, which have prints, sparkles, transparencies and the like.

To put under blazers and cardigans? They look great too. And under that half-transparent crepe shirt? Tank top with square neckline is the right shot! With jeans and flat sandals? A white T-Shirt is the most classic pair there is.

Everyone has to have at least one white and one black, preferably with a square or round neckline. These two can be sleeveless or with a T-shirt sleeve, but they must be more close together to be able to use underneath.

It is also good to have long sleeves and a turtleneck, which look great under 50’s dresses, knit sweaters, leather jackets and everything. Once you have these two colors, you can invest in others as the parts of your closet request.

Well-cut blazer

A well-cut, quality blazer saves any woman’s life. Over dresses, with a basic t-shirt and jeans, with dress pants, with a skirt and now even with shorts he composes the look, heats up in winter, complements in summer and is hyper elegant.

Invest in black, lead or navy and then, if you like, look for other colors that match what you already have at home. Oh, and after your wildcard blazer is guaranteed, look for something in the trench-coats department too: more classic jackets impossible, in addition to being very versatile and elegant. What about?

Basic bag

There are a lot of people who have bags of all kinds, with fringes, tacks, bows, threads, zippers, embroidery, sports, canvas and the like, but they don’t have that basic, discreet and neutral that goes with everything and does away with any problems of coordination.

I love colorful and detailed bags too, but I think we have to have that wildcard, which works with everything and all the time, before investing in any other.

The basic, leather bag, without much detail and more structured, goes from work to the mall without affectations, with any color of shoes and other accessories.

For some people it is black, but it can be dark brown or caramel and even navy blue. Choose yours, but be sure to have this life bag in your closet!

Classic pumps or boots

With this fashion of statement shoes, shoes full of personality, many people forgot to have that classic shoe in the closet, which goes with everything and goes from formal to informal, from print to shine and from day to night without major concerns.

Yes, we are talking about the traditional pumps with pointed toes and thin heels, leather and without details or with minimal details. The finer the heel and the toe, the more sophisticated it is, and there is no woman who doesn’t look more elegant with it.

The same goes for the boot with a pointed toe and a thin heel, today it can also be replaced by a riding boot or a sneaker for those who prefer more comfort, or even an oxford heel, why not? As long as they are very “clean” and of great quality!

Anyway people, I could mention a few more pieces, but I believe that each one has its essentials for their lifestyle, right? The important thing is to always think that it is necessary to have links between one wonderful piece and another, so as not to run the risk of using a jaguar with a shiny zebra and ruffles and becoming hyper over, or ending up with a closet full of “main actors” and not knowing how to put them on the scene.
